Chuang Named Kavli Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences

Chiou-Fen Chuang, PhD, assistant professor of pediatrics and faculty in developmental biology at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, has been named a Kavli Fellow of National Academy of Sciences.

Kavli Fellows are selected by a committee of academy members from among the nationís brightest young scientists who have already made recognized contributions to science, including recipients of major national fellowships and awards and who have been identified as future leaders in science.

Chuangís research seeks to elucidate the developmental mechanisms that generate sensory neuron diversity at molecular and neural circuit levels. Understanding how neurons acquire their distinct identities will lead to the development of strategies for cell replacement therapy.
