College of Medicine's Daniel Drake Medal
Nominations Are Due Jan. 31, 2016
The Daniel Drake Medal is the highest recognition the College of Medicine can bestow on its former students, former faculty, former residents or current faculty. Up to three medals are awarded to living individuals who have been associated with the College of Medicine, now or in the past.
Nominees are evaluated on the basis of outstanding scholarly achievements in biomedical science as evidenced by major significant contributions to medical research and/or represent a distinguished career as a clinician-teacher. To be eligible, a nominee must be a graduate of the UC College of Medicine or have received a PhD degree from one of the programs in the college. Also eligible are those who have been members of the college faculty for five or more years or individuals who have completed a residency in a College of Medicine program sponsored by the University of Cincinnati/UC Medical Center or Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
Members of the full-time faculty, the alumni, the emeriti, past Daniel Drake medalists and former associates of the college are invited to submit nominations. Deadline for submission is Jan. 31, 2016.

Entrepreneurial Achievement Awards Nominations Sought
The Office of Entrepreneurial Affairs and Technology Commercialization is seeking nominations for the 2015/2016 Entrepreneurial Achievement Awards. Nominations are due by Jan. 8, 2016.
Two awards are given: Established Entrepreneur Award for faculty with a record of five or more years of successful entrepreneurial ventures and Emerging Entrepreneur Award for faculty who have successfully launched a new venture during the past five years. Winners will be notified by early February 2016. Awards will be presented at the university-wide Faculty Awards Celebration in the spring.

Doarn Co-Chairs Symposium on Surgery in Space
Charles Doarn, research professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and director of the telemedicine program, served as one of four co-chairs of a National Space Biomedical Research Institute symposium titled "Surgical Capabilities for Exploration and Colonization Space Flight—An Exploratory Symposium” Dec. 9-10 at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. The symposium focused on achievable pathways for surgical care in exploration and colonization of space.
In addition to serving as co-chair, Doarn made opening remarks and served as a session chair.
REMINDER: Celebrate Top Clinical Providers Jan. 6
College of Medicine faculty and staff are invited to join in the recognition of UC Health’s top health care providers from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, in the CARE/Crawley Atrium. The event is hosted by William Ball, MD, senior vice president for health affairs and dean.
Thirteen providers will receive Patient Experience Excellence Awards for being among the top 10 percent of providers in the Press Ganey national database for patient experience with clinic visits. Those being recognized are: Hugh Gloster, MD, and Adam Ingraffea, MD, dermatology; Michael Holliday, MD, family and community medicine; Michael Canos, MD, Bradley Mathis, MD, Caroline Mueller, MD, Sona Sharma, MD, Abid Yaqub, MD, and Nadia Yaqub, MD, internal medicine; Andrew Duker, MD, neurology and rehabilitation medicine; Stephen Dailey, MD, orthopaedic surgery; Lee Zimmer, MD, PhD, otolaryngology-head and neck surgery; and Barbara Vinegar, DPM, surgery.
Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served.
