Privitera Elected Treasurer of American Epilepsy Society
Michael Privitera, MD, professor of neurology and director of the Epilepsy Center at the UC Neuroscience Institute at University Hospital, has been elected treasurer of the American Epilepsy Society (AES). The society seeks to advance and improve the treatment of epilepsy through the promotion of epilepsy research and education for health care professionals. Snyder Honored for Sickle Cell Work
Richard Snyder, MD, associate director of clinical affairs for internal medicine, was honored by Amerigroup Community Care during a Nov. 20 luncheon held at the Theodore M. Berry Head Start Center. Snyder, director of the adult sickle cell program at UC, was recognized for his clinical work with sickle cell patients. The organization noted his success in leading a team of professionals who provide coordinated and integrated care for sickle cell patients.
Environmental Health Chair Leads Organizing Committee for Meeting
Shuk-mei Ho, PhD, chair of environmental health, was the organizing committee chair for the 18th annual Society for Basic Urological Research (SBUR) meeting, held Nov. 20–23 in Phoenix. The scientific theme of the meeting was “Epigenetics and Genitourinary Disorders.” The SBUR is a society of international scientists specializing in research on urologic cancers and the biology of the prostate, kidney and bladder. Ovarian Cancer Metastasis Talk
Ernst Lengyel, MD, PhD, associate professor of gynecologic oncology at the University of Chicago, will discuss “Mechanisms of Early Ovarian Cancer Metastasis” at noon Thursday, Dec. 11, in the Vontz Center for Molecular Studies’ Rieveschl Auditorium.
